Death of Retired Police Officer: Detective Inspector 534 Reginald (Reg) Lewis

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death of retired Police Officer, Detective Inspector 534 Reginald (Reg) Lewis, who died at St Teresa’s Hospice, Darlington on Thursday 14th November 2024, aged 82 years.

Reg joined Durham County Constabulary around 1961 and after his initial training, was posted to Chester-le-Street.  He later served at Middleton-in-Teesdale, Barnard Castle, Shildon, Newton Aycliffe and Durham.  Reg rose through the ranks to Detective Inspector, with most of his service being in C.I.D., retiring in February 1992.

Loving husband to Audrey and dearly loved father, father-in-law, grandad brother and brother-in-law.

A funeral service is to be held at 1.30pm Thursday 28th November 2024 at Wear Valley Crematorium, Coundon, Bishop Auckland DL14 8PE

Family flowers only, donations in lieu to St Teresa’s Hospice, Darlington.

After the funeral, friends are invited to join the family at The Bay Horse, 42 South Side, Middridge DL5 7JD
