Death of a retired Police Officer: PC 649 Ronald (Ronnie) Howe

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death of a retired Police Officer: PC 649 Ronald (Ronnie) Howe, who died at home on Friday 5th July 2024, aged 79 years.

Ronnie first joined the Police Service as a Durham Constabulary Cadet.

During his service he served at Bishop Auckland on beat patrols, front office and temporary spells with Scientific Aids.  He was also stationed with the Traffic Department, being based at Meadowfield and later Newton Aycliffe although his car was garaged at Darlington, that being his patrol area.

He latterly served at West Auckland Section, where he received a serious injury to his knee, whilst on duty.  Following a lengthy period of sick leave, Ronnie was medically retired, late in his service.

Ronnie is survived by wife Margaret.

A funeral service is to be held at 3.00pm Tuesday 30th July 2024 at Darlington Crematorium, Carmel Road North, Darlington DL3 8RY

Our thoughts are with Ronnie’s family and friends at this sad time.
