Death of Police Widow: Mary Isabella Forrester (nee Jeffery)

It is with regret that we inform you of the death of Mary Isabella Forrester, who died in University Hospital Durham on 5^th November 2021, aged 87 years. She was the wife of the late Superintendent 253 William (Bill) Thomas Forrester, who died in 2010, aged 75 years.
Mary was a policewoman in Durham County Constabulary and worked in Stockton, where she rode a Police motor scooter; she was also stationed at Durham City. She resigned from the Force after her marriage, due to the personal restrictions in place at that time, when it was not acceptable for a serving Policewoman to raise a family.
Mary is survived by brother Fred, daughters Lynn Bushell and partner Peter, and Jill McArthur and husband Angus, and grandchildren Hannah, Hamish and Isobel.
A funeral service for Mary took place on at Durham Crematorium on 18^th November 2021.
