Death of a retired Police Officer : DC 242 Graham Johnson

It is with regret that we have to announce the death of a retired Police Officer : DC 242 Graham Johnson, who died on the 9^th August 2020, aged 62 years.
Graham joined Durham Constabulary in 1987 and initially served at Seaham.
He then served at Peterlee in CID and Crime Prevention for many years and served at Teesside Airport as a Counter Terrorism Officer for the years prior to his retirement in 2011.
Graham was very proud to be a representative for Durham and British Police at cricket.
Graham leaves a wife, Joanne and was a loving father, father in law and brother and an all-round good family man and a loyal friend to many.
Donations in lieu of flowers have been requested to go to the Brain Tumour Trust.

The Funeral service took place at Sunderland Crematorium on Tuesday 18^th August 2020 at 1pm
Due to Covid restrictions only thirty family members and close friends were allowed.

Death of a retired Police Officer: Insp. 109 Henry (Harry) Rogers

It is with regret that we have to announce the death of a retired Police Officer: Insp. 109 Henry (Harry) Rogers, who died on the 5^th August 2020 aged 89 years.
Harry joined Durham County Constabulary on 18^th October 1952 having previously served with HM Forces for 2 years with the Royal Horse Guards.
From Training Harry was posted to Stanley, before moving to Seaham Harbour then Eppleton, before he was promoted to Sergeant in October 1965 and he moved to Motor Patrols at Whickham.
In July 1966 he moved to Jarrow, then in September 1969 he became an Instructor at Harperley Hall. 
From July 1972 he served at Durham City until he moved into the role of Chemist Shop Liaison from October 1975 until he was promoted to the rank of Inspector in April 1976 and moved to Peterlee then later to Durham.
In February 1979 he returned to Training for two years before being posted to Stanley for 9 months. In October 1981 he moved into Control Room for 4 months before returning to Peterlee.
Harry retired on 15^th September 1983.
A family Funeral will take place on Thursday 20^th August 2020 11:30 at Durham Crematorium.
Due to the current restrictions only Harry’s direct family will be able to attend. Friends are invited to stand outside of the Crematorium to pay their respects but must adhere to current restrictions.
Donations in lieu of flowers have been requested to Alzheimer’s Research UK.

Death of a retired Police Officer : Supt.2197 James (Jamie) McAloon

It is with regret that we have announce the death of a retired Police Officer : Supt.2197 James (Jamie) McAloon who died on Wednesday 5^th August 2020 aged 62 years.
Known to colleagues as Jamie, Mr McAloon joined Durham Constabulary on 30^th July 1979 and from HQ Training he served at Durham then Peterlee. 
Promoted to Sergeant in January 1985 he returned to Durham then Peterlee before joining Training Department before being promoted to the rank of  Inspector in February 1990. 
He went on to serve at Aycliffe, Consett and Durham before taking on the role of Staff Officer in Force Executive Department.  From there he returned to Durham for a while before moving into Resourcing and leading force recruitment. 
In October 1997 Jamie was promoted to Chief Inspector and was initially Operations Manager based at Chester-le-Street before moving into Corporate Development. 
In December 2001 he was promoted to the rank of Superintendent and became Head of Training, serving next within the Personnel Department before retiring on 2nd August 2009  from the post of Operations Commander in OSD.
Jamie leaves a wife Linda, who is a former Durham Constabulary police staff colleague, and a grown up family. 
Our thoughts are with Linda and Jamie’s children – Jamie, Heather and Karen (who is a police staff colleague) and also Linda’s children Glen and Jill.
Due to Covid the number of people able to attend the service is restricted to those who have been invited which will include representation on behalf of Durham Constabulary.
Nobody else can be allowed in the church. 
Anyone who would like to pay their respects by taking part in a Guard of Honour as Jamie is taken to the Crematorium, should meet outside of Durham Crematorium no later than 9.20am on Saturday 15^th August. 
Please adhere to social distancing restrictions.
Should anyone wish to send messages of condolence to the family then these can be directed via Occupational Health at Police Headquarters who will pass these on to the family.
If anyone wishes to make a donation in lieu of flowers in memory of Jamie then they are asked to consider making this to St Cuthbert’s Hospice, as Jamie was involved in supporting the work at the Hospice.
