It is with regret that we have to inform you of the death of a retired Police Officer : DC 821 William (Bill) Sample who died peacefully at home on Monday 25th November aged 71yrs.
Bill joined the Police service (Cumbria) on the 4th October 1976 and served at Alston before transferring to Durham Constabulary where he was initially stationed to Peterlee sub division, serving at Horden,CID, ASU & Crime Support Unit.
Bill retired on the 5th August 2001
Bill was a much loved father, father-in-law, grandad and after the death of his wife Muriel he subsequently found great friendship with close friend Sandra and her family.
Bill will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
Family & friends please meet for service at St Mary's Church, Easington Village on Wednesday 4th December 2019 at 11.00am followed by private interment at Easington Colliery Cemetery.
Family flowers only, donations in lieu of flowers to the district nurses, Macmillian and Marie Curie.
