Death of a retired Police Officer : Inspector Thomas William Hillery

It is with regret that we have to announce the death of a retired Police Officer : Inspector Thomas William Hillery, who passed away on the 17^th August 2019.  He was aged 85 years.

He leaves a widow Eileen , a daughter Sharon and a son Ian.

Mr Hillery was appointed to Durham Constabulary on the 31^st May 1954, he served at training, West Hartlepool, Durham, Hesleden, motor patrol from 1963 where he was promoted to sergeant in 1968.  He then joined Traffic admin from 1971 then motorcycles supervision from 1973. He joined traffic patrol from 1974.  On promotion to Inspector he joined traffic management where he spent 7 years, retiring from traffic patrols on 31^st May 1984.

The funeral service will be taking place on the 16^th September at 11.15am at Darlington Crematorium.  The service is not private.

Donations have been requested to St. Teresa’s Hospice, Darlington.
