These pictures turned up recently on Facebook with Ian Dickinson asking if anybody could help identify the officers & what they were doing as it was thought that they were on an escort to the Isle of Man
John Andrew Bell & Gordon Bacon ‘came to the rescue’ and put the names to the faces.
The top photo shows Dave Kilner & John Tait standing in front of Westminster and to the left of them is Gordon Balderstone & Ken Garbutt.
On the bottom photo the three officers standing in front of the Westminster car are Norman Cuerdon, Dave Kilner and Billy Hall (Malcolm Hall's brother) formerly all stationed at Hartlepool.
Gordon Bacon spoke to Dave Kilner and they believe it was a prisoner escort from Durham to Parkhurst on the Isle of Wight.
Gordon remembers a number of Cat A prisoners were moved at short notice following the escape from Durham Prison of John McVicar in '68.
