Death of a retired Police Officer - PC John Thomas Peat

It is with regret that we announce the death of ex-P.C John Thomas PEAT  81 years; who served at B/Auckland and  died 9th February 2011.
NARPO has recieved no notification as yet from welfare however this has been reported by two members who have seen the death in local papers.

Death of a police staff colleague - Mr Dennis Clark

Dennis Clark It is with deepest sadness that we have to inform colleagues of the death of Mr Dennis CLARK.
Dennis passed away at St Cuthberts Hospice Durham in the early hours of Friday 25th February 2011 aged 64 years.
Dennis began working for Durham Constabulary initially as a temporary member of police staff in January 1997, and he worked as a clerical officer at Sedgefield, Chester-le-Street/Durham, CJD and Community Safety.

He became a permanent member of staff in November 1998 working at Spennymoor. In July 1999 he joined the Traffic Management Team and has worked in Central Accident Records until he left the Constabulary by way of voluntary redundancy on 21st February 2011.

Dennis is survived by his mother Jean, his sister Yvonne and brother-in-law John.
Dennis leaves many friends within the organisation and our thoughts are with them and particularly with the Clark family at this sad time.
Any messages of condolence can be sent to the family via the Welfare Office at Police Headquarters.

Death of a retired Police Officer - PC 1149 David Oliver

It is with regret that we announce the death of ex-P.C. 1149 David Oliver of Bishop Auckland who died on 17th February 2011 aged 88 years. Mr Oliver leaves a daughter, Brenda and a son, Harold.
Mr Oliver joined the Constabulary in 1948 and served in various postings including Shildon and Bishop Auckland from where he retired in 1978.

Message from the Welfare Dept. re Ian Irwin

This message came from the Durham Police welfare deptartment.:
"I have been asked by Jackie, the wife of the late former Chief Superintendent Ian IRWIN who died recently, to convey sincere thanks from Jackie and family to all who have offered help and support, and to all those friends and colleagues who attended Ian's funeral.  It has been very much appreciated.

Donations were made by many people in lieu of flowers and the monies collected totalled £565.  This money has been forwarded to Cancer Research UK.

Jackie is keen that this message also reaches retired colleagues please.

Death of a retired Police Officer - Sgt 190 James Elliott

It is with regret that we announce the death of ex- Sgt 190 James Elliott who died on 17th February 2011 aged 85 years. Mr Elliott leaves a widow, Elizabeth and a daughter, Carolyn.

Mr Elliott joined Durham Constabulary in 1949 and served in various postings including Middlestone, CID, Darlington, Houghton-le-Spring and HQ Traffic from where he retired in 1979.

Death of a retired Police Officer - Sgt 1291 Ernest William Bate

It is with regret that we announce the death of retired Sgt 1291 Ernest William Bate, who died on the 14th February aged 76 years.
Mr Bate retired from Wear & Tees Valley in 1989 following 25 years service. He had previously served at Macclesfield, Newton Aycliffe, Sedgefield and Wear Valley.

Mr Bate leaves a widow Mrs Mary Bate.
The church service will be taking place on Monday 28th February at 14.00p.m at St John's Church in Shildon this will then be followed by a private cremation service at Wear Valley in Shildon. After the church service refreshments will be available at Elm Road Club in Shildon.
The church service at St John's church is not private.
Family flowers only. Donations can be made to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Our thought are with the family at this sad time.

Death of a retired Police Officer - PC 1092 Michael Carrigan Thompson

It is with regret that we announce the death of retired PC 1092 Michael Carrigan Thompson, who died on the 15th February 2011 aged 66 years.
Mr Thompson retired from Wear & Tees Valley in 1993 following 28 years service. He had previously served at HQ, Darlington and Teesdale.
